En savoir plus

Jan van Eyck (approx. 1390 – 1441) can undoubtedly be described as a pioneer. Innovating by his brush strokes and his technique of paint with translucent oil, he obtained stunning results. The realism of his works, his sense of detail, the perfection of his compositions and his mastery of colours amaze the world. He was also one of the first to sign his paintings, which was very unusual for the time.

We don't know much about Van Eyck's life, but more about his work, even though only 20 paintings have come to us. But what tables! His famous retable "L'Adoration de l'Agneau Mystique" is world famous. Presented in the St-Bavon Cathedral in Ghent for six centuries, he has recently undergone remarkable restoration work!

This new piece reproduces a finely detailed reproduction of "L'Homme au Turban Rouge", exhibited at the National Gallery in London, and considered by many as a Van Eyck self-portrait. A palette of painters and brushes, the original signature of the master and his name complete the composition.
