Theme: 2 € commemorative to the Treaty of Rome Spain 2007.
Tirage 8,000 copies.
All European Union countries using the euro issued on 25 March 2007 a commemorative coin of €2 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.
The centre of the coin represents the treaty signed by the six founding Member States in front of a background evoking the dallage, drawn by Michelangelo, from Capitol Square, Rome, where the treaty was signed on 25 March 1957. The translation of the word EUROPE is above the book. The translation of the words TRAITÉ DE ROME 50 ANS is written above the drawing. The year 2007 and the name of the issuing country are listed under the drawing. The twelve stars of the European flag surround the drawing on the outer ring of the coin.
An exception exists for Luxembourg where the law requires that the portrait of the duke appear on all the pieces, the portrait of the duke will therefore appear in watermark on the lower left side of the piece. In the Netherlands, a similar law requiring the head of state (the king or queen) to appear on all the pieces, was amended to participate in this commemoration, this amendment is only valid for this particular program.
