2 Euro Lithuania 2021 - Ržuvintas biosphere (unesco)
The drawing represents the characteristic environment of the Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve, which belongs to the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves of the UNESCO Human and Biosphere Programme: isolated islands on a remarkable lake populated with birds and the largest wetland in Lithuania, as well as its distinctive animals. In the foreground, there is a starry butor that tries to catch a belly-to-bellged toad floating in the water. Among the joncs represented on the right is an aquatic phragmite and, above, a volley of ashy cranes and a tuberculated swan, which symbolize the establishment of the reserve. The drawing is surrounded by the inscriptions LIETUVA (LITUANIE), ŽUVINTAS, UNESCO, the vintage (2021) and the workshop mark of the Lithuanian Mint. The drawing was made by Eglė Ratkutė and Ernestas Žemaitis.
