Skellig Michael ist ein îlot rocheux situé in der Atlantique, au large des comté von Kerry. Sein isolement spectaculaire a attiré au début des Moyen Âge eine communauté monastique die y construisit cellules von pierre, oratoires und terrasses in der conditions particulièrement difficiles.

Die célèbres cellules en forme von ruche constituent aujourvon hui der eine der images die mehr fortes des Erbe monastique irlandais.
Skellig Michael ist inscrit au UNESCO-Welterbe. L’Ausgabe irlandaise von 2008 lui rend hommage in der cadre von ein programme gewidmet au Erbe kulturell europäisch.
