Coincard 2 Euro Malta 2026 BU - The Pharaoh Dog
Description:
The central part of the coin features the Pharaoh's dog, also known as "Kelb tal-Fenek", depicted in profile in a noble, assertive posture. Standing on a rough-looking ground, the animal exudes an impression of controlled power and natural elegance, underlining its agility and lively temperament.
These harmonious medium-sized dogs are distinguished by their slender, well-balanced silhouette. Viewed both from above and from the side, the head has the characteristic shape of a truncated cone, with a muzzle slightly longer than the skull. The body, slightly longer than its height at the withers, reflects an athletic build ideal for speed and responsiveness.
The tail is fine and supple, whip-like and set at an intermediate height. At rest, it drops to hock level, while on the move, it elegantly straightens and curves upwards. The short, glossy coat accentuates its fine lines. Shades range from reddish-brown to deep brown, with typical white markings on the chest, leg tips and tail tip. A fine white line on the face may be present, although it is not systematically sought after.
The lower part of the composition features the name of the issuing country, the year "2026" and the initials of the engraving artist. The upper part bears the inscription "IL - KELB TAL-FENEK", reinforcing the issue's cultural identity.
The outer ring features the twelve emblematic stars of the European flag, arranged in a circle, symbolizing unity and harmony between the member states.
Print run : 35,000 copies.
