Ireland and the adoption of the Euro
Ireland, that verdant island in the west of Europe, has also embraced the euro as its national currency. On January 1, 2002, the euro took over from the Irish pound, marking a historic turning point for the country. Irish euro coins feature simple yet powerful designs that reflect Ireland's cultural and national heritage.
1 cent to 2 euro coins: They feature the Celtic harp, a traditional symbol of Ireland known as the "Brian Boru Harp". The Gaelic name of Ireland, "Éire", and the year of issue are also engraved on these coins.
