Euro coins from Italy

Italy, known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, is also one of the founding nations of the Eurozone. By replacing the Italian lira with the euro in 2002, Italy began a new chapter in its monetary history, proudly showcasing its monuments, artists and emblems on its coins.

1 cent coin: Castel del Monte in Andria is the motif of this coin, with the words "R I". Engraved by Eugenio Driutti.

2-centime coin: Turin's Mole Antonelliana is depicted, engraved by Luciana De Simoni.

5 centime coin: The Colosseum, witness to Rome's glorious past, engraved by Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini.

10-cent coin: Sandro Botticelli's portrait of Venus represents the timeless beauty of Italian art. Engraving signed Claudia Momoni.

20-centime coin: Umberto Boccioni's futuristic work "Man in Motion" is highlighted, thanks to Maria Angela Cassol.

50 centime coin: The equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius in Rome's Capitoline Square, designed by Michelangelo, is immortalized by Roberto Mauri.

1 euro coin: The Vitruvian Man, drawn by Leonardo da Vinci around 1492, illustrates the proportions of the human body with two naked men in a square and a circle. The issuing country is indicated by the letters R and I superimposed above the square, with the year to the right. The 12 stars of the European flag surround the outer ring.
