2 EURO 2012 - 10 YEARS OF THE EURO
10 years of the euro: Commemorative currencies from Eurozone countries
Commemorative Coins 2012: 10 years of the euro
To celebrate 10 years of the euro, the 18 countries of the euro zone have issued unique Commemorative Coins. Each country presents its own visual on its coin, created by Helmut Andexlinger, graphic designer at the Austrian Mint. The visual, chosen by the citizens and residents of the euro zone, depicts the world in the form of a central euro symbol, demonstrating that the single currency has become a major global player over the past decade.
The peripheral elements of the coin symbolize the euro's essential place in everyday life (represented by a family), the financial world (the Eurotower), trade (a ship), industry (a factory), and the energy sector and R&D (two wind turbines).
