The first commemorative 2 euro coin pays tribute to the 530ᵉ anniversary of the death of Domenico Ghirlandaio, eminent painter of the Italian Renaissance. The obverse features a detail of the Virgin Mary at prayer, taken from his work "The Adoration of the Shepherds", a fresco located in the Sassetti Chapel of the Santa Trìnita Basilica in Florence. This coin, issued by the Republic of San Marino, bears the inscription "SAN MARINO GHIRLANDAIO", the dates "1494-2024", the letter "R" indicating the Mint of Rome, and the initials "VdS" of artist Valérie de Seta. The coin is surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union.

The second commemorative 2 euro coin celebrates the 50ᵉ anniversary of San Marino's Declaration of Citizens' Rights and the Fundamental Principles of the Legal System. The obverse depicts an open book with the inscription "I DIRITTI DELLA PERSONA UMANA SONO INVIOLABILI" (The rights of the human person are inviolable), symbolizing this historic declaration. It also features the silhouette of San Marino's Statue of Liberty and the Palazzo Pubblico, with the inscription "SAN MARINO", the letter "R" for the Mint of Rome, the year "2024" and the initials "E.F." by engraver Emanuele Ferretti. The twelve stars of the European Union surround the central motif.
