Coffret Belle Epreuve SAINT MARIN 2023

The first commemorative coin pays tribute to the 500th anniversary of the death of Perugino, Pietro Vannucci, a master of the Italian Renaissance. The obverse features the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus, an extract from his work "Madonna with Child, San Sebastiano and San Giovanni Battista", exhibited at the Uffizi Galleries in Florence. This coin, minted by the Fillic and Numismatic Division of Poste Marino San Marino, bears the inscription PERUGINO, the dates 1523-2023, and the letter R for the Mint of Rome. It also includes the name SAN MARINO and the initials MAC for Maria Angela Cassol, surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union.

The second coin celebrates the 500th anniversary of the death of Luca Signorelli, another eminent representative of the Italian Renaissance. Born in Cortona, Signorelli was influenced by Piero Della Francesca and contributed to the decorations of the Sistine Chapel and the Sanctuary of the Holy House of Loreto. The piece shows an angel from his "Beati in paradiso" fresco in Orvieto Cathedral. Signorelli, compared to the greatest masters of his time, also had a political career before his death in 1523.

These two pieces, marking anniversaries of great historical and cultural significance, complete the 2023 divisional series in proof version.
