Description
This year, for the first time, the Vatican Mint dedicates the rectangular silver-colored 25 euro coin to the solemnity of Easter. The detail of the risen Christ depicted on the coin is taken from Pinturicchio's fresco "The Resurrection", found in the Borgia Apartment in the Vatican Museums. Artist Antonella Napolione has reproduced the image of Christ blessing, enveloped in an oval of golden light rising above the tomb. The banner with the red cross on a white background, seen to the left of Jesus, is the symbol of the resurrection and in Christian iconography represents Jesus' triumph over death.
