In February 2018, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania jointly issued a commemorative euro coin with a common design in 2018 to celebrate the creation of the Estonian and Latvian states and the restoration of the Lithuanian state.
Coin design:
The three Baltic States are symbolically represented by a braid. They are united by their history and by a shared past, present and future. A stylised number illustrates the 100th anniversary, and the heraldic symbols of the three States are also represented. The name of the issuing country, “LATVIJA”, appears on the left-hand side of the coin and the year of issue, “2018”, on the right. The design was selected by the public in the three Baltic countries. The coin’s outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European flag.
