This commemorative 2 euro coin issued by Luxembourg in 2025 celebrates the 25th anniversary of Grand Duke Henri's accession to the throne. Becoming Head of State on October 7, 2000, following the abdication of his father, Grand Duke Jean, Henri of Luxembourg embodies monarchical continuity within a modern constitutional framework.
The design on the coin's national side features a portrait of Grand Duke Henri, in a solemn, forward-looking posture. This depiction underlines both the stability of the Luxembourg monarchy and the sovereign's commitment to national and international affairs. The inscription "25e anniversaire de règne du Grand-Duc Henri" ("25th anniversary of the reign of Grand Duke Henri") appears at the top, with "Luxembourg" and "2025" at the sides or base, depending on the artistic layout.
The legend "25. TROUNJUBILÄUM VUM GROUSSHERZOG HENRI" is inscribed on the upper part of the coin, while "Luxembourg 2025" appears on the lower part. The cornucopia, a symbol of the minting carried out by the Monnaie de Paris, is also discreetly featured on the coin.
