This prestigious numismatic set, issued in 2025 and struck in Belle Epreuve (BE) quality, celebrates the conclusion of the round-the-world voyage of the Amerigo Vespucci, the famous training ship of the Italian navy and ambassador of the country's maritime tradition and know-how.
It comprises a 2 euro BE coin, limited to 10,000 copies, and an even rarer 10 euro BE coin, with a limited edition of 5,000. Each coin is presented in its own elegant packaging, for protection and presentation.
The 10 euro BE coin is struck in brass, weighs 28.1 g and measures 52.4 mm in diameter. It is distinguished by its openwork shape, designed to accommodate the 2 euro coin in its center. This original concept gives rise to a visually striking composition, combining art and innovation.
Theobverse of the 10 euro coin features a stylized compass with the points of the compass surrounding the central opening. Graduations in degrees underline the theme of navigation. The inscription " Repubblica Italiana " appears at the top, while the sailboat's motto appears at the bottom: " Non chi comincia ma quel che persevera ".
The reverse features a globe decorated with parallels and meridians, symbolizing the round-the-world voyage. The dates "2023" and "2025" mark the beginning and end of this international mission. Also visible are the face value, the "R" of the Mint of Rome and the signature of the artist, E. Ferretti.

The sailing ship Amerigo Vespucci is undoubtedly one of the world's most emblematic naval vessels, as much for its history as for its majestic silhouette. Named after the Florentine navigator Amerigo Vespucci, whose first name was given to the American continent, this square-rigged three-master embodies the prestige of the Italian naval tradition.
Built in 1930 at the shipyards of Castellammare di Stabia, near Naples, and launched the following year, the Amerigo Vespucci is today the oldest training ship still in operation. With a length of 101 meters, her black hull is adorned with white stripes, and her vast sails are made of traditional canvas. Her design is inspired by the warships of the 19th century, particularly those of the Neapolitan navy.
