Lot 4 x Coincard 2 euros France 2026 - The Little Prince

Coincard design

  • The inside of the coin features the official logo celebrating the 80th anniversary of the publication of The Little Prince in France. The Little Prince is shown in a contemplative, meditative pose, in keeping with the poetic spirit of the work. Behind him appears the number "80", recalling the anniversary of this emblematic publication. The inscription "Le Petit Prince" appears above the central motif, while the country code "RF" is positioned at the top and the year of issue "2026" at the bottom of the design.

The outer ring features the traditional representation of the 2 euro coin, adorned with the twelve stars of the European flag, symbolizing the unity of the member states.

Four blister-packed versions accompany this commemorative issue:
The "Book" version shows the Little Prince seemingly emerging from an open book, evoking the birth of a universal classic.
The "Cloud" version shows him contemplating a starry night, recalling the themes of imagination, dreams and infinity.
The "Airplane" version shows the character on an aerial journey, a direct reference to the world of aviation.
Finally, the "Desert" version illustrates the Little Prince running through the dunes, a reference to the founding encounter between the author and his character.

Written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1943, The Little Prince is much more than just a children's story. As an aviator and writer, Saint-Exupéry drew on his personal experience as a pilot to create a philosophical and humanist work, exploring friendship, responsibility, childhood and the meaning of life. Translated into hundreds of languages, the book is now one of the most widely read in the world, and remains a timeless symbol of poetry and universal reflection.
