Description:
The Elbe Philharmonic (Elbphilharmonie) is a landmark building in Hamburg, Germany, designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron. It is a large-scale, acoustically high-performance symphony concert hall. The Elbe Philharmonic was built on the site of a former cocoa bean warehouse named Kaispeicher, built between 1963 and 1966 in the port of Hamburg. The trapezoidal warehouse is topped by a concrete structure with a glass facade, housing two halls with 2,150 (the Großer Saal, for symphonic concerts) and 550 seats. It is considered one of the largest and most efficient halls designed for symphonic music, like the Berlin Philharmonie, the Philharmonie de Paris or the Philharmonie Luxembourg.
