This 2 euro commemorative coin, minted by Germany in 2026, pays tribute to Konrad Adenauer, a major figure in German history. As the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, he played a key role in the country's post-World War II reconstruction and in anchoring it within the emerging Europe.
Issued to mark the 150ᵉ anniversary of his birth (1876), this ruthenium coin celebrates the memory of a visionary statesman and a key moment in German history.
The obverse features a detailed portrait of Konrad Adenauer, facing forward with a determined gaze. The engraver's work emphasizes the former chancellor's maturity and wisdom, highlighting his characteristic facial features.
The name KONRAD ADENAUER is inscribed in capital letters along the left side of the portrait, vertically.
