The inner part of the coin features the head of a bearded vulture, a large bird of prey emblematic of the Andorran mountains. This imposing vulture, with a wingspan approaching three meters and a weight of between five and seven kilos, has some remarkable morphological features: its head, neck and chest are fully feathered - unlike other vultures - its tarsi are covered in dense feathers, and its silhouette is distinguished by long, slender, angular wings and a diamond-shaped tail.
The bearded vulture is a generally solitary bird, evolving in rocky areas and alpine valleys. Its flight is reminiscent of a hawk, with its slender wings, while its smooth, stable movements are more reminiscent of a harrier's flight. It is also known for its unique feeding behavior: it is the only bird of prey that specializes in eating bones, which it breaks by dropping them from the air to extract the marrow. This particular diet makes it an essential link in the mountain ecosystem, helping to eliminate carcasses and maintain the natural balance.
The lower part of the coin features the name of the issuing country, "Andorra", and the year of minting, "2025".
