This 2-euro commemorative coin is dedicated to Cyprus’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, a significant institutional event for Cyprus and for the European Union as a whole. Through its design, this coin highlights both Cypriot cultural identity, the unity of the Member States, and the hope for a shared European future.

The center of the coin features the official logo of the 2026 Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Its design is inspired by the famous Lefkara embroidery, a traditional art form emblematic of Cyprus. This embroidery, renowned for the delicacy of its geometric patterns and the craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, symbolizes the link between heritage, collective memory, and artistic creation.

The motif depicted on the coin consists of 27 elements, representing the 27 Member States of the European Union.
