Issued in 2015 by Estonia, this €2 commemorative coin celebrates the 30th anniversary of the European flag. Adopted in 1985 by the European Communities, the twelve-star emblem has become one of the most recognisable symbols of European unity.
The common design depicts the European flag as a symbol of unity between peoples and cultures. The twelve stars turn into human silhouettes surrounding the flag, while the inscriptions “EESTI” and “1985-2015” appear in the upper right-hand part.
The design of this common issue was selected at European level and adopted by the participating countries, with the specific indication of each issuing state.
