On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Summer Games, the Monnaie de Paris is paying tribute to this renowned international competition through a collection honoring sport, its values, athletes but also the heritage of the host country. Olympism and Paralympism are celebrated on these products, minted in France in our Art workshops.
Following the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the year 2021 officially marks the start of the countdown to the Paris Games. The handover of the Olympic flag at the closing ceremony of the Games marks the start of a new era of Jeux à la Française. This transfer of the torch will be highlighted in this collection. 2021 is also the first year of a quadrilogy in which sport and its values will be presented through the Monnaie de Paris coin and medallion collections.
The coin depicts the Genie throwing a discus, overlooking the Games' athletics stadium. It also features the Arc de Triomphe in the background, symbolizing the city of Paris.
The coin is presented in a numbered sealed coincard.
