On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Summer Games, Monnaie de Paris is paying tribute to this renowned international competition with a collection honoring sport, its values, athletes but also the heritage of the host country. Olympism and Paralympism are celebrated on these products, minted in France in our Art workshops.
Following the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the year 2021 officially marks the start of the countdown to the Paris Games. The handover of the Olympic flag at the closing ceremony of the Games marks the start of a new era of Jeux à la Française. This transfer of the torch will be highlighted in this collection. 2021 is also the first year of a quadrilogy in which sport and its values will be presented through the Monnaie de Paris coin and medallion collections.
To mark the countdown to the launch of the Games, from 2021 and for 4 years, the Monnaie de Paris will mint a €2 commemorative coin featuring the Olympic Games through French numismatic figures.
After Marianne (2021), Génie (2022) and Semeuse (2023), this coin will feature Hercules wrestling.
