Maria Callas, whose full name was Maria Anna Cecilia Sofia Kalogeropoulos, was a famous opera singer of Greek origin, born on December 2, 1923 in New York and died on September 16, 1977 in Paris. She is considered one of the greatest sopranos of the 20th century.

Callas enjoyed an exceptional career on international stages, notably at La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Royal Opera House in London.
