Coincard of 2 Euro Luxembourg 2022 on the 35 years of the Erasmus program
Design description:
The European Commission has decided that all member states of the euro zone will issue a commemorative 2 Euro coin with a common design, to mark the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus program. Including Germany with its 5 mints, the number of coins in the series is 23 commemorative 2 Euro coins
The citizens of the European Union voted on the Internet from a list of six design proposals, according to a procedure recommended by the European Commission. The winning design was conceived by renowned Monnaie de Paris engraver Joaquin Jimenez, highlighting two main elements: the original intellectual inspiration, Erasmus himself, and his influence on Europe.
The main motif is the portrait of Erasmus of Rotterdam; the other part of the motif represents, through a ray of connections, the many intellectual and human exchanges between European students.
Print run : 7,500 copies.

Special feature: the coin bears the French mintmark, unlike the standard coin, which bears the Dutch mintmark
