Description:
The drawing depicts the prehistoric Maltese temples of Mnajdra, a Unesco World Heritage site. Mnajdra is a prehistoric site consisting of three temples nestling around an oval forecourt. It lies on Malta's south coast, 500 meters from the Hagar Qim site. Mnajdra is known for its astronomical alignments, and the southern temple appears to have been built to mark the position of sunrise at equinoxes and solstices. The oldest parts of this complex date from around 3,600-3,200 BC. In the upper right-hand section of the drawing, the inscriptions "MNAJDRA", "TEMPLES" and the years "3,600-2,500 BC" can be read one above the other. At the bottom of the design is the name of the issuing country, "MALTA", and below it the year of issue, "2018".
