Description

Theme :Temple of Skorba

Description:

The drawing shows Skorba, a prehistoric temple located near the hamlet of Zebbiegh, northwest of Malta. The complex consists of two temples built side by side. These were built on the remains of a much older settlement discovered outside the temple complex. Skorba lacks the monumental character of the other temples in the Maltese archipelago. Nevertheless, this site is of the utmost importance , as it has enabled archaeologists to define Malta's prehistoric cultural chronology and to establish that the archipelago hadits first inhabitants around 5,000 BC J.-C.. Above the drawing are the words "SKORBA TEMPLES 3600-2500 BC". At the bottom are the name of the issuing country, "MALTA", and the year of issue, "2020".

Production run : 20,000 pieces.

The coin has the different Monnaie de Paris markings, making it a 3rd variant of the coin.

( 2 euro current version, 2 euro with Maltese F in the bottom star, 2 euro coincard with Monnaie de Paris differences )
