Scientiae Thesaurus Mirabilis is the name of the document signed by King D. Dinis, in 1290, and recognized by Pope Nicholas IV the same year, which created general studies and gave birth to the University of Coimbra, charged, over time, with the training of the national elite and the evolution and consolidation of scientific culture in Portugal, Europe and the world.
To mark this important historical monument, Casa da Moeda has struck a coin by sculptor José João de Brito.
