Description:

The Lusophone Games is a multi-sport competition organized by the Association of Portuguese Official Language Olympic Committees, to be held in Lisbon from July 11 to 19, 2009.

The inner part of the coin features a gymnast with a ribbon. At the top, Portugal's coat of arms is set in a semicircle formed by the country's name. At the bottom, in a semicircle, the legend 2.os JOGOS DA LUSOFONIA LISBOA, the name of the artist J. AURÉLIO. In a loop on the ribbon, on the left, the year 2009. The coin's outer ring depicts the twelve stars of the European flag, on a background of concentric lines.

The first Lusophonie Games took place from October 7 to 15, 2006 in Macao (China). The founding members are: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Macao (China), Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé Principe and East Timor, as well as the associate countries for which Portuguese has played an important historical role: India, Sri-Lanka and Equatorial Guinea.
- The various disciplines are: athletics, basketball, soccer, indoor soccer, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball and beach volleyball.
