Design description:
Donatello, born around 1386 and died in 1466, was one of the great sculptors of the Italian Renaissance. Working mainly in Florence, he transformed the representation of the body, movement and human expression.
He mastered both marble and bronze and created works that became landmarks of Renaissance sculpture, including his celebrated bronze David.
The 2016 issue marks the 550th anniversary of his death and honours a central figure of the artistic renewal of the Quattrocento.
