Design description:
The Slovak 2 Euro coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first blood transfusion in Slovakia, was designed by Mária Poldaufová. The design is based on a circular composition with a repeating rhythm of circles, where an isosceles cross with blood group symbols is located in the middle of the smallest circle. Towards the inside, a repeating three-step outline with a dominant drop of blood is inlaid, underscoring the piece's symbolism. Fragments of test tubes and stylized drops of blood alternate in the central circle.
Print run : 995,000 pieces.
