2 Euro Monaco 2007 an emblematic coin

The €2 Grace Kelly coin was minted in 2007 in memory of Princess Grace.

The Principality of Monaco has minted the limited edition coin, on which we can see the profile of Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco, wife of Prince Rainier III.

10 years after its official publication by the Monaco Stamp and Coin Museum, the €2 Grace Kelly is today the must-have coin for collectors; it is even a real treasure for numismatists.

Featuring the image of Princess Grace, this coin was sold at the time of its release at the price of €120, a discouraging price since at the time this price was considered excessive!

But who would have believed that 10 years later, its price would have increased 17-fold, or 1000 times its face value of 2 euros?

A price that is justified:

- by its low print run of 20,001 copies (20,000 copies in distribution and one copy for Prince Albert), which makes it the lowest print run of all the €2 commemorative coins from 2007 to 2014.

- By its very emblematic theme, that of Princess Grace, a woman much appreciated by all Monegasques, but also by many Americans, who rushed to obtain the piece, to complete their private collection.

The value of this coin continues to increase:

It is impossible to find it in your wallet since it has never been put into common circulation as we have seen in many newspaper articles.

If you want to get it for investment or for your private collection, be careful and go to professional sellers so as not to get "fake" coins.

The condition of the white sheath (which constitutes the packaging of the Grace Kelly box) is crucial for a future resale. Some are in poor condition, such as damaged tabs, stained and/or torn case, it sometimes happens that the piece having been removed from its packaging, has suffered a shock on the edge.

The capsule that encloses the coin may also be cracked or damaged.

Please note that this capsule is special, that it is impossible to find it at dealers of collector's material. It is specific to the museum of stamps and coins.

Another particularity is that the piece does not have a certificate as many sellers claim.

So don't be surprised when buying that there is no certificate and be wary if you are given one.

It is therefore very difficult today to obtain the 2€ Grace Kelly in its original state of conservation.

ADVICE :

However, if you want to make a good deal in the future and increase the value of your collection, you can always invest in the 2015 €2 fortress which was produced in 10,000 copies, half as many as the Grace Kelly (its value continues to increase month after month).

Indeed, the €2 fortress dethroned the €2 Grace Kelly in 2015 , with the lowest print run ever issued for a commemorative €2.

Released at a price of €120, it was propelled to more than €1,000 in 2 years.

An evolution of 500 times its face value.
