Monaco 2011 €2 UNC – Royal Wedding of Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock
Design description:
Prince Albert II of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock married in July 2011. The civil ceremony took place on 1 July and was followed the next day by the religious ceremony in the courtyard of the Prince’s Palace.
Charlene Wittstock, a former South African Olympic swimmer, became Princess of Monaco through the marriage, which attracted extensive international attention.
The €2 commemorative coin is one of the major dynastic issues of Albert II’s reign and directly associates the 2011 date with the princely wedding.
