In 2024, the Chinese calendar celebrates the Year of the Dragon. This mythological animal is highly valued in Chinese culture, where it embodies strength, nobility and success. People born under this sign are often perceived as charismatic and lucky.
The face of the coin dedicated to this year features a dragon, encircled by traditional Chinese motifs. The creature, whose head and front emerge from the circle, is depicted in classic Chinese iconographic style, emphasizing its power and charisma. The Chinese ideogram for "dragon" is engraved on the animal's body. At the top, inside the outermost circle, are engraved the year 2024 and the inscription "Year of the Dragon".
The reverse of the coin displays all the animals of the Chinese zodiac, arranged around a traditional temple door, on a folding screen. This series, starting in 2018 and ending in 2029, highlights a different zodiac animal each year. The face value of the coin is shown at top left, while the inscription "RF" appears on the door.
