The lighthouse is immortalized in a commemorative medal.
The stone masonry lighthouse, which was designed and built by architect Georg Schreck Market was completed in 1885. The lighthouse keeper lived on a reef until 1976, when the lighthouse was automated.
Finland has selected three motifs inspired by those that once appeared on Finnish coins.
