Description

2 Euro Malta 2023 - Nicolas Copernic

Description:

Front: The front of the coin commemorates the 550th anniversary of Nicolas Copernicus' birth and the 480th anniversary of his death. In the center, you'll find a drawing featuring the astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus, with his portrait to the left, while a representation of the solar system occupies the background. At the bottom, the signature of the engraving artist, Daniela Fusco, is accompanied by the name of the issuing country, MALTA (in French), and the year 2023. The inscription "NICOLAUS COPERNICUS 1473 - 1543" is clearly visible. The twelve European five-pointed stars, pointing upwards, adorn the outer border.

Reverse: The reverse of the coin features a map of the European Union on the right-hand side, also extending over the crown. Two groups of six parallel vertical lines frame this map, each bearing a star. Engraver Luc Luycx's signature "LL" can be found on the right-hand crown. To the left of the card is the number "2", and the word "EURO" is inscribed on the card itself, with the fourth letter on the crown.

Print run : 80,500 copies.
