This annual series from Malta for the year 2026 includes eight euro coins and the 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the Walled City of Valletta, all minted in BU (Brillant Universel) quality.
The 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the city of Valletta highlights the capital of the Republic of Malta through a representation engraved in its center. This historic city is located on the northeast coast of the island, on the Xiberras Peninsula, a natural formation originally consisting of a plateau rising to around 60 meters at its highest point, the Xiberras Mound, from which the peninsula takes its name. It is bordered by two major natural harbours, Marsamxett Harbour to the north and Grand Harbour to the south, which structure the region's maritime landscape. At its eastern end is Fort Saint-Elme, while the main access to the city is via the City Gate to the west, opening onto the Place des Tritons in Floriana. The upper part of the coin features the wording "Valletta" accompanied by the issuing country, while the lower part shows the year "2026" and the initials of the engraving artist.
