BU Universal Brilliant Set Malta 2025
This annual series from Malta for the year 2025 includes eight euro coins and the 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the Walled City of Mdina, all struck in BU (Brillant Universel) quality.
The Maltese coins feature three distinct designs on their national side, accompanied by the country's name "MALTA", the year 2025 and the twelve stars of the European flag:
1, 2 and 5 cent coins: depicting the altar of the Mnajdra megalithic temple, dating from around 3600 BC J.-C., located on a hill overlooking the sea.
10, 20 and 50 centime coins: Maltese coat of arms consisting of a shield with the national flag, surmounted by a mural crown symbolizing the island's fortifications, surrounded by an olive branch and a palm leaf, symbols of peace, linked by a ribbon bearing the inscription "Repubblika ta' Malta".
1 and 2 euro coins: the historic emblem of the Sovereign Order of Malta, depicting the famous eight-pointed cross, symbol of the island under the governance of the Grand Masters between 1530 and 1798.
The 2 euro commemorative coin features the fortified town of Mdina, Malta's former capital until 1530. Perched on a central hill, Mdina is recognized as one of Europe's best-preserved fortified cities. This maze of narrow streets and stone monuments attracts many visitors every year, fascinated by its rich past. The legend "Mdina" appears at the top of the coin, while the name of the country, the year "2025" and the initials of the engraver appear at the bottom.
